The main protagonist of the Yakuza/Like a Dragon series. Nicknamed the "Dragon of Dojima" for his signature back tattoo and was the Fourth Chairman of the Tojo Clan. Kazuma Kiryu has been through countless misadventures as the yakuza world keeps bringing him back into action, taking on various foes and multiple aliases to hide his notorious reputation. Kiryu does what he does best to protect his family and friends, even if it means breaking some bones.
Kazuma Kiryu was orphaned at a young age and fostered by his role model Shintaro Kazama on Sunflower Orphanage alongside his sworn brother Akira Nishikiyama and Yumi Sawamura. Following the footsteps of Kazama, Kiryu, and Nishikiyama became yakuza members of the Dojima Family, a Tojo Clan subsidiary.
During his years active, Kiryu went through a lot. From serving 10 years in prison, protecting his later adopted daughter Haruka Sawamura from the wrong hands, to being given the title of fourth chairman, stopping yakuza wars, opening the Morning Glory Orphanage, and faking his death to protect it, he never seems to escape criminal conflicts. What Kiryu wished most was to escape this life, to be able to manage his orphanage alongside the fostered children and give Haruka the best life she could, but his popular figure among the yakuza made him and his closest associates easy targets forcing him to distance himself from them.
